Port Jackson 18th Feb y 1800 -

Dear Sir

         I take the liberty of Introducing Lt Flinders to you, he is a very fine young man & I hope from what he has already done in this Country he may be recommended to return to make farther discoveries.  The Friendship arrived yesterday with one Hundred & Sixteen Irish Convicts on board by her we hear that the Porpoise was obliged to put back in the Latd of 36º North.  I sincerely hope that it will not be the cause of Kings being detain'd for I assure you he is much wanted in this Country.
