long a period it may, however, be found requsite to continue this convenient system, I do not take on me to determine ; and how far adventurers, who may intend to settle here, will approve of it, I know not.  At all events, it behoves the Government, either to continue in office our present wise and able Expounder of the Laws, or, in case of his removal to a high post, to supply his place by such a Successor, as may recommend reformation by his private example, and awe crimes by the dignity of his public demeanour.
