HM Ship Porpoise off Madiera

Sir

I take the Liberty of acquainting you with the State of the Garden am happy to say that it looks extremely well the Hops in particular - olives & Caribs are in good state also vines apples pear peaches  Nectr[ines] &c - we have had a very good Passage thus far having reached Madiera in a Fortnight - hope Sir Jos Banks & Lady  Mr & Mrs Aufriere are in good Health
