Spring Grove
July 3.  1798.

My dear Sir

     Governor King's illness has prevented me from sooner procuring the statement which I promisd to send you of the terms which Government allows to such Settlers as are permitted to go to New South Wales in the character of honest Men.

     They have a House built for them at the expence of the public

     They have a Grant of two hundred Acres of Land, or more if they have Money sufficient to clear & cultivate more.

     They have the usual instruments of Husbandry to begin with issued to them out of the King's Stores.

     They have the labor of 2 or 3 Convicts or more if they have Money to clear & cultivate a larger tract of Land & these Convicts are fed out of the King's Stores for Nine Months.

     They have provisions for themselves & families supplied out of the King's Stores for 12 Months.

     They have a free passage out & provisions during the passage Gratis with a decent separate Cabin.

This is the state of the matter as well as I can learn & these are the terms offerd to Handycrafts - likely to be usefull to the infant Colony, these terms Suter [Suttor] may have if he chuses to accept them, on condition of his employing himself during the passage out in taking care of 10 boxes of plants of the -
