I have the Honour to inclose, the Diploma of the Literary and Philosophical Society of Manchester, constituting you one of Their Honorary Members.  By electing into their Number, the President of the first Philosophical Society in Europe, they are sensible, that at the same time they wish to bestow Distinction, they are adding to the own Reputation –
