& whenever I see the prospect of an establishment being found [indecipherable] to my experience of a usefull literary institution I shall be most ready to stand proud to the Public either as a Vice President or as a visitor if my Friends should think fit to honor me with either of these respectable applications.

Sir Joseph Understanding there are many Gent: wanted by Government to settle in New South Wales for which they are allowd their Passage as well as a small premium, it is my inclination to reside in that Settlement provided I can fill any situation that will be advantageos to Myself & my Country and was recommended by a Friend to take this liberty of applying to You, which I hope you will have the Goodness to pardon. I am 27 years of Age, of a respectable Family, and can give sufficient referances as to my Charactor. Should it prove agreeable to favor me with an interview it will give me pleasure to attend you at any Time you may be pleas'd to appoint.
