Downing Septr. 19th 1779.

Dear Sir

I am indebted to you long for a letter, & lately for five maps from Dr Pallas: accept I beg my thanks for yr trouble. I was in hopes with the like to have had from him a promised manuscript respecting the Aleutian islands, which wd have served to affect my plan respecting the Geographic Zoology of the arctic countries & N. America. The Zoologic part I have completed, but lack some materials for the other. Iceland  is a place we have but romantic accounts of.  I shall rejoice to seek from you any knowledge you can spare. Also to know what kind of a tour Allaskins & Petersons  is thro' that island & in what Language. Pray has Mr Sparman published his remarks on the Cape. I long to see authentic accounts. How far has Schreber published in French. I have only to The Mazati.

This page has its status set to Completed and is no longer transcribable.
