on board several frigates.  He is now going out in that capacity to Port Jackson.

     What his motives are for such a voyage at this time I know not.  I should have thought he would have stood a better chance of advancing himself during the war by remaining nearer home.

     If You can be of any service to him in the line he has chosen, I flatter myself You will do it at the request of an old friend.
