Sir

          The enclosed extract of a letter I have just received from my Brother Saml will I am persuaded give you pleasure.  It is dated from Jamaica in May last.

"The plan of our Gardener will compleatly answer.  The Bread fruit tree has increased since he has been here from 3 Plants to 12 and in one of them he has raised from a Cutting.  In three months he expects to have 8 or 9 more.  This is more successful than in other Gardens of the Public & will ensure a good supply in this part of the country. The Cinnamons &c are equally increased.  The Black Pepper I brought is the same as the one already the Island."

          As we are much endebted [indebted] to your exertions about the Breadfruit you are
