himself and therefore offers his service to You.  He thinks the whole may be got for 30 or 40£.  He was desired to write an answer immediately and therefore I proposed he should desire that the Gardner who is now in Switzerland, may have leave to see the collection and to pick out such alpins as he might think proper - at the above price.  This I proposed, by way of gaining time, to have Your orders about it.  If you resolve to treat for the whole, for a part or for none let me know by the first post.  The letter was wrote by a man who knows something of Gardning & planting, and therefore Dr Pitcairn thinks his opinion may be to depend upon.  He calls it a good collection.
