flight whenever Lady Banks issues her commands.  Would you like any more of the biscuits?

We are in good hopes that no Corsican plunderers will lay hold of either our turkies [turkeys] or biscuits - at least every body seems ready to prevent it vi et armis [with force & arms].  Our volunteers cheerfully give up all their business to go to Yarmouth & do their military duty - which is the more meritorious, as another corps, who have long boasted great loyalty & patriotism, & who have been receiving pay for some years, refused to go.

My wife desires me to present her best compliments to Lady & Miss Banks -

I am with the sincerest respect & regard

Dr. Sir
Yr. obliged & faithful serv.t [servant]

J E Smith.
