Septr. 24th 1798

Sir

The inclosed I received on Satd. - The Box mentioned in it will stow very well in the Garden, but as it is 3 feet 2 Inches long, And I understand the Boxes at Kew are 2 Feet Square - it will incroach 1 Foot 2 Inches on a Second Box - of course Two of the Boxes at Kew will be unecessary if Mr Rashleighs Box is taken abd - & which will certainly be the best method of preserving his Hops More cuttings, might also be put into his Box - In this case would it not be advisable to reduce one of the Boxes now at Kew to Ten Inches by 2 Feet to fit the Vacancy there will be between Mr Rashleighs & the Third Box in the Row it is placed in Of course some little time will be necessary for those Roots Striking - Your orders on this New I shall obey - and if it is perfectly agreable & you are well enough to see me I will do my self the pleasure of calling on you on Thursday in case you do not come to Town I hope & trust you are recovering
