Sir
I received your Letter on my return home yesterday Evening, & the heavy rain has prevented my going to town to day which would have answered no Material purpose, as Mr King went out of town yesterday morning after having answered your Note, before I saw him - your note was shown to me by Mr Moss. who told me Mr K had ansd it, & at the same time showed me a Letter which was going for the Dukes Signature, fixing the Salary at 10/ per diem & 3 Months Advance, the other point as to mode of Payment, as before Stated - On referring to your Notes I persuaded Moss not to send it yesterday for the Dukes Signature until your answer was received to Mr Kings Note, the Contents of which Mr Moss was ignorant - Should the weather be good tomorrow I shall go to Town and see Parke & Mr Moss on the business & get it completed As Mr King does not return till the Middle of Next Week
