D

Lady Sinclair at Sea
9th. May 1806

Sir

I am sorry to find you have mistaken the Cape which bears now N. 56º E. 3 or 4 Leagues, by which means much time has been lost as a Boat might have been on shore and returned by this time, or picked up by the Porpoise in the Bay.

I have given every information to the Master respecting Anchorage, and recommend the Ship, with necessity, not to Anchor till the Boat returns.

I am
Sir
Your most obedient
humble Servant

Wm Bligh

On His Majesty's Service

To Joseph Short Esq.r
Commander of His Majesty's Ship Porpoise
