Dear Mrs John,
Just a few lines to let you know, that I am still in the land of the living. Was pushed in here for a fortnight owing to an attack of Nile fever. I expect to leave here for the Details about the end of the week. They are at Ismalia [also spelt Ismailia] but owing to the casualties last Saturday week I expect I will go on to the front. Frank Weir is there so I may get with him. He writes me that the wound he received sometime back is quite OK again & that it does not worry him. We have
