Yours of 27th July came to hand in good time, and I was pleased to hear from you that my letter to the S M Herald contained items of interest to you.
To begin my reply I would like to say that it is just 58 years (4/8/14) since war was declared and a good many things have escaped my memory, had I known someone would be seeking information on what really happened on those first months I would have most certainly written them down & put in safe keeping.
I was one of the first of the compulsory Training class and we had the choice
