into the bush to be finished with flint. The cuts were filled with clay so that they would heal without closing up again. Red earth {dullum} and white pipe clay {wywy} were frequently used. The aboriginals here could only count to two. Yaberah was one, brura two. 

I had very little schooling in England and it was after I was married that I learnt to read a newspaper then, about 1890, taught myself from whatever books I could get. how to draw out plans of houses and calculate quantities of timber etc required with probable cost. I now draw up plans and specifications for the use of the Council and have built quite a number of houses and shops in Lismore using my own plans.
