Farthings

The Butcher whose trade is regulated by a dessimel arithmetic, The Stone by which he purchases meat being 8 lb allows the farthing admission into his reasoning & usualy enhances or abates the price of his wholesale bargains by 12d a stone & of his Retale ones by a farthing a Pound.

The Baker in London also admits the farthing this however a compulsory admission for the Law fixes the money price of his Bread according to an assize which regulates the price of a Peck loaf to a penny & consequently that of a Quartern loaf to a farthing in the country however where the assize is applied to the weight & not to the Price of the Bread the cost of a given loaf is always the same.

The Brewer also whose Liquor is to be subdivided into Pints as well as Quarts by his Retale trader who keeps an ale house must divide his price & his Retalers profit by farthings a rise of 9s/ a Barrell is within a Pint of one farthing a Pint.
