Custom Ho London
12th Augst 1794
Sir
Having been Honored with your Commande respecting the Plants from Jamaica, I made application for them as soon as the Ship come to her Moorings in the River Thames, and I have this day delivered them at your house.
In one Large Tub, there are several plants - apparently healthy. But a small Tub, said to contain a Single plant, is dead; Captain Renwick says when the above plants were sent on Board his Ship they come in a small cannoe, and it being blowing weather at that time, Some sea water got to the plant, which he supposes was the occasion of the plants perishing on the Voyage. I received a Letter to your Address from Captain Berwick which I left with the plants.
I am
Sir
your most obedient humble servant
