is not nearly such a Draw back from its Value as the small Gum frequently imported containing large Quantities of Sand from which this appears to be free. I understand that the best Gum is frequently found on the Trees which produce it, some Inches below the Surface of the Earth. I give this hint for your Friend to examine if such may be the Case here. I have been much indisposed in Health & thereby prevented from making Experiments on the Dye Wood but hope in a few Days to give you Information on the Subject.
It will ever afford me much pleasure if I can be in any Degree serviceable to you or your Friends & in any such Case I beg you will freely command me.
