(From Liverpool to Salisbury)

I shall always remember my first glimpses of this delightful part of rural England.   About 600 Australians arrived with me from Liverpool where we left disembarked from the trusty transport that had carried borne us safely through the perils of three oceans.   Special trains carried us from Liverpool to Salisbury Plain, & en route, we saw passed through Warwick, Birmingham, Oxford, & other important centres.   We detrained at amesbur AMESBURY, a charming [?] town a quaint old town charmingly situated among the green downs for which Wiltshire is famous.
