the Picrania, or what I see Swartz has made Quassia excelsa.  You one mentioned an intention of this Author to publish a large Work, which would render Sloan & Browne obsolete.  If well executed & accompanied with Plates, it will be acceptable to the Lovers of Botany.  Candor and Gratitude do not seem to make a great part of his composition.  He mentions me but once at the Article Geoffraea.

I once thought there was some merit in being a Collector of Exotics.

We have scarcely had any Winter here till the End of Aprile [April] when we had two Mornings of Snow.  This did great harm to the Fruit trees, and put Vegetation to a stand.

There are some fine Plants of Ferula Asafoetida in the Botanic Garden.  The Proffr promises to forward some to His Majesties Garden this Summer.
