but I must say it appears to me they suffer the Witnesses against me to wander too much and do not sufficiently oblige them to give direct answers.  They endeavour to prove that had the six Officers who deposed the Judge Advocate been confined, the Troops would have mutineed, without considering whether they would have been confined or not, and they try also to show that the Colonists would have rebelled altho our Witnesses have proved so fully to the Contrary.  As to the Troops, I am told that the whole Regiment are in my favor if they can be brought forward - indeed take away the Rebel party no man can stand higher than I do, but I must bear all just now, for I am on trial in place of Johnston until I reply which I fear will not be for these ten days.  McArthur is completely defeated & exposed.  Common observation & justice will do the rest for me.
