Sept. 28th - Thursday
Drizzling rain, but not cold. Very heavy thunderstorm, hailstones & lighting at 6 p.m. More casualties coming in & as a consequence, plenty of work. Meet the Belgian & have a cup of coffee & cakes with him & learn some French. Still raining, I see him off in the tram, which is late & return to the office to secure my greatcoat, which left there. Legge still working & I wait for him until 9-30 p.m., meanwhile doing some French. We walk home together & go straight to
