Sir Jos: Banks presents his Compt to Capt. Prendegast, he is highly sensible of the Captains obliging attention to his majesties Favorite amusement in taking charge of the Plants he brought home under Sir Josephs adress for the Royal Gardens & he begs the Captain to accept his best thanks for the satisfactory & successful care that has been taken of them

Sir Jos: begs leave however to claim Capt. Prendegasts further assistance to compleat the good work he has so nearly brought to a Prosperous Issue by helping Sir Jos: to Remedy a mishap which has taken Place since the Captain left the Ship

As soon as the China Fleet arrrivd in the River one of the Kings Gardiners attended & visited all the ships that had Plants for his Majesty on board while they lay at Greenhith & in the Hope at that time he saw on board the pepe Capt. Prendegasts ship 3 boxes of the same construction all of them conspicuously directed to Sir Jos: for the Royal Garden, & the plants in everyone of them fresh & Healthy

The Barge which came down from Kew with orders to bring up the Plants was unluckily too small to take them all at one trip the Gardiner therefore took up those from the Hen Addington first & returnd with all Possible despatch for the Remainder but was surprisd on his return to find only one of the three boxes for the King he had seen a few days ago on board the Hope the other two having been taken away during his absence

Since this time Sir Joseph has not been able to Trace the two missing Boxes.
