Tues 19th
Stan has been off color the last few days, & as his legs were swollen up to-day he decided to see the Dr this afternoon & was very much surprised when Wells told him he would have to leave the Peninsula; bad circulation of the blood was the cause of the swelling & he was sent to the Field Hospital for tonight & is to go on board the Hospital boat tomorrow; I am on duty tonight in consequence & am going to keeps Stans rifle, we made arrangements allowing me to draw any parcels addressed to Stan; Stan is run down, by by the way Wells spoke he is not likely to see any more active Service; he is lucky in getting away before the winter sets in: He does not look bad, & I had no idea he was as sick as he is; Everything very quiet
