Each company is taken out to the trenches ½ mile from the camp where they stay for 2 days & nights and instructed in bomb Throwing first with dummies and then real bombs.
At 9 p.m. we were marched to the trenches where we were treated to a demonstration of light bombs. The First was in the shape of a parachute rocket which was fired over the enemy's position and slowly floated down showing a bright white light for the space of from 3 to 5 minutes illuminating the country for 3 or 400 yards round.
