15th Church parade on Common presided over by Chaplain – General Rentoul who has
just arrived from Australia with a message from Australia that the "Home fires are kept
burning" for us

16th We voted to-day on the conscription question in Australia. Each man received a
printed manifesto from W.M.Hughes stating the terms of the proposition.
Leave has been granted to the brigade for 4 days, to be taken consecutively in batches
of 20%. Men are allowed to visit relations in any town in England or
