and along side the line the distance from Paris or other big centres is denoted on posts in Kilometres, 1 5/8 of which make 1 mile. We skirted Paris in the night but the night was too dark to discern anything. Etaples & Boulogne we next past through, and several large camps and in one town saw a monument about 150 high.
