Escoust 15 April 1917
Snow and cold wind's last night, rain and sleet this morning, here I am in a little hole, in the side of a bank, as happy as a miserable man can be, we are under shell fire, and the rations are short, but thank goodness a parcel from M.V.T helped to lighten my burden, it came at the right minute
