that I wonder why the iron sides of our cabin do not respond. I for one will never forget some of the songs they sing, notably "there's a silver lining to the dark cloud shining" and the optimism therein bespoken is of a kind which is incurable.

Had my hair cropped short today and cannot part it now. With white shoes, puttees, bare-knees, short pants and dungaree coat, gaol-bird crop and little red cap, I would hardly be recognised by you now.
