feed the horses while the cooks made a drink of tea for us – we pushed on passing through the other villages Bonneville then Canaples & then bivouaced about a mile past the latter.

It was 10 p.m before be finally halted & by the time we had unharnessed – stretched our drag ropes from waggon wheel to waggon wheel (to tie the horses on to) watered & fed our horses ditto ourselves – It was midnight & we were quite ready for our blankets – one of the longest days I ever remember on the go for a full 23 hours.

It is now Wednesday morning
