one couldn't help feeling a thrill as they marched through whistling the Maiseillaise.

It reminded me of the days when our Division marched off from 'Mena Camp en route for the Dardanelles – They had the whistling spirit in them then but one doesn't often hear them at it now. It has become too much of a routine & necessary evil
