this is only the second day since reaching here that it has been fine & only at night when between our blankets at the billet have we had dry feet & we are just slathered in mud & it is impossible to keep clean when you are working amongst horses this weather. But everyone is fit & there is hardly a case for the sick parade except sores and bruises.

The Farm we are billetted in has had every breed of soldiers thrust on them in turn Germans, English, French, Canadians & now Australians. The advance guard of the Germans reached here on their first dash for Calais in Oct '14 but they were only here two days when the
