2 years service without a crime & yet preference is given to Batmen etc who have the softest of jobs – no jobs that a man who respects himself won't take on.

But it is the way of the army a thing like this should not go by favour but should be settled by length of service all on an equal footing There is a very discontented feeling over this matter especially when the press correspondents write articles in the Australian papers saying that all the "old hands" have been over on leave etc.
