line of trenches in no man's land & if the pilot was not already burnt he must have been instantly killed by the 'bump'

Aug 26 (Sunday)
Our 1st Division has done its bit on the Somme & has pulled out.

Thursday we trekked back to Rubempre, Friday on to within two miles of Doullens where we entrained yesterday morning & came North again. We detrained last night at Hopontre Siding near Poperinghe & are bivouaced close by waiting to march to our billets on this sector of the Ypres front.
