love comedy & comes in for a good deal of chaff which she doesn't dislike. Her father is an insignificant little man but a domestic tyrant who objects to her fiance a young French soldier – the latter was home on leave a fortnight ago and it was amusing how he hung about until the old mans back was turned – and at night when the old man was snoring below she would be leaning out of her attic window whispering to 'Romeo' below with all the neighbours for an audience.
