SUNDAY - 27TH SEPTEMBER 1914:

At 9.30 a.m.   Church Parade was held on shore at Rabaul.   The Protestant Denominations assembled in Proclamation Square and the Roman Catholic sin the vicinity of the Officer's Mess.

The Provost Marshal returned from Mioko, having the Government stores referred to in yesterday's diary.

Captain Travers and Lieutenant Holmes made a reconnaissance of the district from Rabaul to Raulawat (Kabaira Bay); they report all quiet along the road.   Four German Planters were ordered to report at Rabaul on Tuesday next, as they have not yet taken the oath of neutrality.

Lieut. Sampson with the  ½  Coy. from Toma returned to the "Berrima"; he reports that the convoy as handed over to him, together with temporary wireless station, had been brought into Herbertshohe.

  A message was received from Herbertshohe that a strange Gunboat was in sight.   The Destroyers have left to investigate.   Orders were received to darken ship.

Arrangements have been made  for the transfer of the Troops on the "Berrima: to  a temporary barracks at Rabaul.

Lieut. Manning has made a reconnaissance of the road from Government House to Ratavul along the  coast; he reports all quiet.

Health of the troops in general continues satisfactory.
