The clouds were low down on the horizon resembling great mountains and the sun sinking behind them in a vivid ball of red, gave them the appearance of great snow clad peaks, outlined with a fringe of red gold. We also passed 12 little islands upon the largest one being perched a lighthouse. Those are called the twelve Apostles. Passing Aden late one evening, at a distance of 20 miles, the searchlights were plainly visible playing from that Port. After arriving at Suez a thirty one day voyage, we anchored in the stream for two days before disembarking and were beseiged by natives selling all kinds of articles at, of course, their "verra" cheap prices.
