MONDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 1914:
At 7-0 a.m. the "Matunga" proceeded to Herbertshohe to load copra.
At 4-30 p.m. the "Madang" with troops for New Ireland (Namatanai) referred to in diary of 7th instant, left Rabaul. The "Loringow" accompanied the "Madang" and will be utilised by Captain Twynam, O.C. Native Police, in traversing the coast line of New Ireland and landing Native Police where required.
The Deputy Administrator saw the 10 Germans arriving by the "Matunga" from Wilhelmshaven. It has been decided that they be sent to Australia. The Six New Guinea Coy's Employees will travel as ordinary passengers and pay their own fare.
Lieut. Commander R.S. Lambton, R.A.N.R., is appointed to command the Naval portion of the Expeditionary Force vice Commander J.A.H. Beresford, who is being invalided to Australia. 2nd Lieut. C.O. Manning is appointed Officer in charge of Native Affairs.
Health of the Troops is good.
