SUNDAY - 15TH NOVEMBER 14:   

Lieut. Holmes motored to Raulawat and brought in 'Overland Car, abandoned by Germans on our arrival here in September.

The folowing messages were received from Navy Office:-
3-25 am Administrator:
"Captured German Ship "Komet" is being renamed "Una" "when recommissioned 17th Novr."

4-55 a.m. to Administrator:
"Master "Kulumbangra" reports that German Government "resident at Kieta, has made prisoners of about 30 British Traders and Planters about Bougainville Is." and are stongly entrenched in the hills close to Kieta with about 500 armed Natives. It is expected residents will resist annexation. What course do you propose."

Reply was despatched to this latter message:-
"Waiting return of "Komet"; will then despatch "Expedition to Bougainville - Administrator".
The following message was transmitted to Military Commandant, Sydney: also Navy Office, Melbourne:-
"Despatched "Messina" Sydney. 14th Novr. with German Prisoners. Lieut. Sherbon commanding guard."

Church parade was held at Rabaul and Herbertshohe as usual.

Health of the Troops continues excellent.
