THURSDAY - 18TH FEBRUARY 15:

The "Navus", which was despatched to New Guinea from New Zealand, as referred to in diary of 28th Jany., arrived from Rabaul this morning, having on board 308 Officers and men of the Naval Reserves, and 555 Infantry Officers and men, the whole being under the command of Lt.Col. Paton, representing the balance of the Special Naval and Military Expeditionary Force despatched to New Guinea in August last year. Major Heritage also returned by this vessel.

The "Navus" anchored in Watson's Bay at 11-30 a.m. and after the men had been medically examined by an Officer of the Department of Health, and their belongings inspected by Customs Officials, the "Navus" proceeded to berth at the E. & A. Coy's Wharf, Circular Quay. 

General leave was granted the men from 4-0 p.m. until 6-0 a.m. to-morrow.
