THURSDAY - 24TH DECEMBER 1914:

The "Matunga" left at Noon from Frederick Wilhelmshafen. She has a relief garrison on board consisting of one Company (50 all told) of Tropical Unit, under the command of Captain C.H.T. Nelson for the relief of Garrison at Frederick Wilhelmshafen, and Posts at Eitape and Kaiserin Augusta River. Major Martin has been requested by the Administrator to remain at Wilhelmshafen as District Officer.

Captain Byrne, A.M.C., proceeded to Frederick Wilhelmshafen by the "Matunga" in order to make the necessary arrangements for handing over to the Medical Officer from Colonel Pethebridge's force. He will return to Rabaul by the "Matunga".

Major Martin has been asked to communicate with Commander Cumberlege (Destroyers), and request that the "Siar" and "Nusa" be returned to Rabaul as early as possible.

There are several cases of Malaria at Herbertshohe and Rabaul.
