25th Dec: Rounded North Cape of Buka at 7-30 a.m. Heavy swell running all day. Altered course into St. George's Channel at 11-0 p.m.

26th Dec: Before closing my report, I would like to bring under your Excellency's notice the splendid services Rendered me by the Mate, A.B. Jackson, who, since Lieut. Sparling was relieve of command of the Ship, has proved himself a capable "Captain" and a competent and trustworthy navigator.
