TUESDAY - 8TH DECEMBER 1914:-

Enquiry is being held into cases of forgery of the Treasury Notes issued by direction of the Administrator; one Soldier and a Malay have been arrested in connection with the affair.

Alterations are being made to the wireless plant and engine at Rabaul by Lieut. Whittle, on completion of which it is hoped better results will be obtained.

The following wireless message was received from Colonel Legge:-
"Reference payment of £4,900 Lucas to Treasury; how much German Notes etc. and how much of Specie was paid. Full particulars required."

The following reply was prepared for dispatch:-
"Your 7659: Money paid by Lucas to Treasury, English £821, German Notes £2,331, German Silver £1,792."

Health of the Troops is satisfactory.
