The following message was prepared for despatch to the Minister for Defence:-
"By 1900 6th Decr. Bougainville occupied 9th Decr., flag hoisted, proclamation issued and garrison posted. Goverment Steamer "Buka" sunk in harbour by Germans; will arrange to raise. Information from Master "Kulambangra" conveyed in Navy Office message 15th Novr. absolutely false."
Health of troops satisfactory.
