To Matron-in-Chief B.E.F.France.Dear Madam. You may remember that I was sent down from the 48 C.C.S. five weeks ago to the Sick Sisters at Abbeville. And from there I was sent here to convalesce. During all the cold weather I have had a troublesome cough and though there was some slight lung affection, the Medical officers assure me that that has quite cleared away. Unfortunately I took another chill here - which prolonged my stay, but now I am very much better and most anxious to regain my former health and strength. It has been, and is still my one aim to be able to serve my country over here and with that object in view, and having heard of your many kindnesses to others, I am approaching you on the subject to ask you if you would consider the possibility of my being sent to a warmer climate where I would I feel sure be able to keep well and do
