Copy of the Order to Mr Jas Smith Jnr for the delivery of the cattle at Hume River.

Matavai 23d April 1841
To Mr Jas Smith Jnr

You will please deliver to the Order of Geo. MacLeay Esqr 2 Bulls 67 Oxen, 75 Steers, 120 Cows 96 Heifers Total 360 Head of Cattle now in your charge at [indecipherable] Hume River branded H on near rump and 4 on the off shoulder and take a receipt for the same Calves under 6 months old on the 5th Jany to be given in And 50 out of the 67 Oxen to weigh from 6 to 7 Cwt

Mr Geo MacLeay presents his Compt to Mr James Hassall and encloses Two Bills on his Father for £540 each which he will accept when presented

Mr MacLeay has to thank Mr Hassall for his prompt attention to this request and regrets very much that he [indecipherable] that he should have been put to any inconvenience by his [indecipherable] his directions.

Mr Hassalls compliments to Mr MacLeay and begs to inform him that he has given Mr [indecipherable] proposal every consideration, And should he agree to it is afraid that a similar dispute may arise. Mr H therefore suggests the property of Mr [indecipherable] taking the whole herd on the same terms, which 1150 above the former purchase, should Mr M agree to this Mr H will allow 10 Head for the deficiency of calves and sho any be found unable to travel he will make an allowance to deduct them from the herd.
