We have received your favor of the 20th January and in reply beg to acquaint you that as three of the Promissory Notes viz two of £500 and one of £1500 bear only your signature, we enclose a fresh Note for the amount (£2500) for the joint signatures of Sir William Macarthur and yourself and upon your returning it to us signed we will cancel the old Notes which are signed by you only and forward them to you. The present rate of interest we shall charge will be 6 pCt which will rise with the Bank Rate should it go beyond
