common (which was altogether out of the question) I did not expect that my expenses would have been so near the amount as they are. I enclose the account and am very sorry that I was unable to make them lighter. You will observe that I am in your debt on a/c of money near £75 - as the bank is not open today I cannot tell whether I shall be able to hand you over more than £60 at present which sum I have in Gold & will give to you hither with the balance if possible.

I was obliged to go to Wellington in order to leave the bills with the Banker there for collection. I could not make them payable at Nelson because there is no longer any Bank there.

I have therefore paid into The Union Bank of Australia at Wellington two bills drawn by myself on Dappa & endorsed by Mr Fox
